Miguel Angel Valentin

Miguel "Mikey" Valentin, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 28, 2025, at the age of 89 years young. Born in Don Alonso, Utuado, Puerto Rico on February 27, 1936, Miguel - lovingly known as "Pop" - lived a life full of love and hard work. To many he was "the honey man," sharing his beekeeping knowledge and sweet harvests with the community. To his family, he was a guiding presence whose wisdom, humor, and passion for life left an unforgettable mark.Miguel proudly served in the U.S. Army and as a Detective of the NYPD. A true renaissance man, he loved art, photography, music, and poetry. Always the first on the dance floor and quick to break into song, he was happiest when surrounded by family - and, of course, by pretty women who adored his charm. Family was his greatest pride. He raised two loving sons, welcomed nearly 30 foster children into his home, and cherished his six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He taught by example, passing down the values of hard work, kindness, and the importance of family.Even in his final days, Miguel's humor and warmth never faded. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched with his love and generosity.Miguel is survived by his sons, Mike Valentin and Oscar Valentin, and his loving family. Please join the family at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 for Final Farewells at 10:30a.m. A procession will follow to St. Patrick Cemetery, Smithtown where Miguel will be laid to rest.
