Miguel Angel Velez Martinez

Miguel A. Velez Martinez, 78, of Hartford, passed peacefully on Sunday, November 16, 2025.
Miguel was born in Isabela, Puerto Rico, the son of Ana Delia Martinez and the late Luis Velez, and graduated from Escuela Superior Francisco Mendoza. He was employed as a Machinist, retiring after many years of service.
Miguel came to the United States with little more than a suitcase and a dream to build a better future for his family. He led a humble life and taught his children that, through hard work and perseverance, anything is possible. Miguel also inspired his children's curiosity for the outdoors and adventure, encouraging them to explore and appreciate the world around them.
Miguel will be remembered as a loving son, father, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend, whose kindness and warmth touched all who knew him. He was a devoted family man who cherished spending time with his loved ones, especially his children and grandchildren, and found joy in road trips and family vacations, creating lasting memories with those closest to him. As an attentive son, Miguel was always by his mother Ana's side, ensuring she was cared for with unwavering dedication.
Throughout his retirement, Miguel could frequently be found by the Connecticut River or at local parks, visiting with friends and enjoying the beauty of his surroundings. He was a skilled mechanic and an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors, often seeking solace and adventure in nature. Miguel also had a deep love for music, particularly Salsa, and delighted in playing Dominoes with family and friends.
Miguel's greatest pride and joy were his children, and he leaves behind a lasting legacy through his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his mother, Ana Delia Martinez, Miguel leaves to celebrate his life, his significant other for over 38 years, Santa Arroyo; his devoted children, Evelyn Melendez and her husband Jose of Leominster, MA, Miguel Velez, Jr. of Ocala, FL, and Jose Antonio Velez and his wife Karina Guerrero Fernandez of Puyallup, WA; his grandchildren, Jose Melendez, Jr. and his fiancée Dr. Tiana Tyndall, Josalyn Melendez, Laila Melendez, Dr. Miguel Velez, III, and his wife Dr. Jacqueline Rose Velez, Brittany Lee Jace and her wife Meagan Jace, Yaneily K. Velez and her husband Yonan Guzman Padilla, and Antonio Gene Velez; his great grandchildren, Bella Bonilla, Elianna Velez, Yonan Fanuel Guzman, Jr., Kaya Melendez, and Miguel Velez, IV; his sisters, Ramonita Velez, Ana Maria Velez-Collazo, Carmen Maria Velez and her husband Edwin Barreto, Marisol Velez, and Yvette Martinez; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he loved with all his heart.
Besides his father, he was predeceased by his brothers, Luis Antonio Velez and Victor Velez.
His family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 10 a.m.-12 Noon, with a Prayer Service at 12 Noon, at Carmon Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor.
Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
