Barry Leo Giroux

Barry Giroux, 70, of Bolton, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, November 14, 2025. Barry was born on February 4, 1955, in Newington, son of Wanda Giroux and the late Leo Giroux. He was a kind and intelligent man, a devoted husband, and a wonderful father.
Barry received a bachelor's in civil engineering from the University of Connecticut in 1977. He worked as an environmental engineer for the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection for several years and then was a Project Manager at GEI Consultants for the rest of his career, retiring around 2022.
Barry met his wife, Kathleen, when they were in high school. They were married on October 21, 1978. The couple celebrated their 47th anniversary this year.
Throughout his life, Barry enjoyed spending time at Rogers Lake in Lyme. He met his wife there. He spent summers with his children and extended family at the lake-- fishing, swimming, and boating. In his later years, Barry developed an interest in woodworking, spending time in his workroom on various projects. Barry loved a good joke, appreciated a good meal, and had a knack for fixing all manner of things.
Barry is survived by his wife, Kathleen Giroux; his daughter, Carolyn Giroux of Jewett City; his son, Mark Giroux and his partner Samantha Sadloski of Vernon; his daughter, Allison Ring and her husband Brian Ring of East Hampton; and his much-loved grandson, Dylan Giroux of Vernon. He is also survived by his sister, Roxane Denalsky and her husband John Denalsky of Bowling Green, Ohio; his brother-in-law, Jim Pelati of Chester; and his mother, Wanda Giroux, 101 years old, still residing in the family home in Newington. He was predeceased by his sister, Amy Giroux.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 12 p.m. at the United Methodist Church of Bolton, 1041 Boston Turnpike/Route 44 in Bolton.
