Leroy Williams, of Bloomfield, CT, and devoted husband to Janice Williams, transitioned peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Leroy was born February 26, 1949, in Winnsboro, SC, son to the late Leon and Carrie Etta Williams.
Leroy Graduated from Fairfield High School in South Carolina and after graduation he enlisted in the United States Army, and after many years of service, he received an Honorable Discharge. After his time in the service, Leroy relocated to Hartford, CT and began to study at A.I. Prince Tech where he advanced his Carpentry skills. After Completing Technical School, he was employed by Cody Carpentry for 8 years, then advancing his career with General Dynamics Electric Bolt as a Carpenter. After 12 years of employment with Electric Boat, he retired and started his own company which he did till retirement. He was well loved by his clients.
Leroy was a Proud Foster Parent for DCF for over 30 yrs. The kids in the neighborhood referred to him as Granddad Leroy. He loved his family dearly, taking vacations together often. Leroy enjoyed going to his grandkids' sport games to support them. He also enjoyed bowling, and fishing with his family. He loved music and dancing, especially with his Granddaughter Shani. He was a skilled Carpenter and a jack of all trades. He loved going back home to South Carolina to visit his family and friends.
The passing of Leroy will leave a permanent ache in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. Along with his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Janice Wiliams, he leaves to celebrate his memory his daughters Shanda William-Gutzmer (Kenrick) of Windsor, Charissa Dixon of Bloomfield, and Kimberly Cooper (Chris) of Windsor; five grandchildren, De 'Jon Gutzmer and Shanii Gutzmer of Vernon, Shana Dixon of Bloomfield, Tyrek Kelly and Christian Kelly of Windsor; three great grandchildren, Ja'Ky Preston, Kyrie Dixon, and Ja'Meir Dixon; one great great granddaughter, Ky'Rah Preston; a nephew he raised like a son, Micheal Rudolph of New York; a God-son, Preston Coleman; one brother, Fay Williams (Jessie) from South Carolina; four sisters, Josephine Washington of South Carolina, Etta Mae-Boston of North Carolina, and Mary-Jane Holmes of North Carolina; two sisters-in-law, Daisy Williams of Hartford, CT and Linda Rudolph of Bolton, CT; brother-in-law Cornelius Cooper from Bolton, CT; two foster sons, Ricardo Edwards and Jabre Hutley. A host of Previous foster children, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Along with his parents Leon Sr. & Carrie Etta Williams, Leon was preceded in death by his three brothers, Leon, Jimmy, and Pamel Williams; four sisters, Mamie and Hazelie Simmons, Emma Hall, and Juanita Williams; sisters-in-law, Bobby-jean and Jessie Williams, Claudette, Cynthia, and Dorothy Rudolph; brothers-in-law, Daniel Simmons, George Washington, James (Slim) Simmons, Erskine Rudolph, and Howard Boston; one son-in-law, Kenneth Fowler, and one great grandson, Ja'Mari Preston.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the dear friends who stood by and supported us in this difficult time. We would also like to acknowledge Masonicare Health Care Staff, home helpers- Thomas, Kola, and Ester, and a Special thanks to the Department of Veterans Administration and the CT North Central Area Agency on Aging.
