Walter Davis, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother, and son, passed away on November 12, 2025, at the age of 71. Born in Hartford, CT, on April 13, 1954, he was the second of seven children raised by Annie Ruth and Thomas Davis, formerly of Bloomfield, CT.
Walter attended and graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1973, where he left his mark as a gifted athlete. He was a dedicated member of the wrestling team, a pitcher for the baseball team, and a running back on the football team. Beyond sports, anyone who truly knew Walter knew how much he loved to dance. With a big personality fit for any stage, he could light up a dance floor for hours-running through the James Brown catalog and adding a few hits by The Stylistics for good measure.
After graduation, Walter went to work for Pratt & Whitney, where he remained for 13 years. He later discovered a talent and passion for painting homes and eventually founded his own business specializing in exterior and interior painting. Throughout his painting career, he encouraged and inspired many of his peers, freely sharing tips and tricks of the trade. Walter, a man who never met a stranger, cultivated long-lasting friendships and left an unforgettable impression on everyone he met.
Early in life, Walter met and married Loreander Davis (his "Nubian Queen"), who would become his devoted wife of 48 years. Together, they built a loving home and raised three children: Pastor Terrill Harris (Loreander's son, whom Walter embraced as his own), and their two children together, Katrina Davis-Elkey and Walter Jamaal Davis. Walter was a devoted and proud father who cherished his role as a dad, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He took great comfort in the family he and Loreander built together.
Walter is predeceased by his parents, Annie and Thomas Davis, as well as beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is survived by his wife, Loreander Davis; his children Pastor Terrill Harris (Ernestine), Katrina Davis-Elkey (Andre), and Walter Jamaal Davis (Karla); his grandchildren Aryanna Davis, Kyon Davis, Paris Davis, Apollo Davis, Katina Harris, and Terrill Harris Jr.; and his great-grandchild Honor Mitchell. He also leaves behind his siblings Thomas Davis, Robert Davis (Linda), Michael Davis (Tracy), Betty Davis, Debra Davis, and Marjorie Davis; nieces and nephews Carol Martin, Camille Martin, Ricky Wells, Thomas Wells (Aigne), Nicole Cruz (Froilan), Jacquilyn Davis, Jenna Davis, and Robert Davis Jr.; great-nieces and great-nephews Malaya Cruz, Aleena Cruz, Saniya Cruz, Thomas Wells Jr., Gabriella Wells, Miles Davis, and Stephen Coreano Jr.; and a host of extended family and friends.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Carmon Funeral Home in Windsor; 807 Bloomfield Ave, Windsor, CT 06095 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield, CT.
