Mike Ash

Michael Wilbur Ash, age 79 of Newburgh, IN and formerly of Lawrence County, IL, passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Linda White Hospice House in Evansville, IN. He was born August 12, 1944, in Lawrenceville, IL to Charles Wilbur Ash and his wife Rachel Catherine (Wagonner) Ash.
On October 22, 1962, Mike married Joyce Ann Shoulders. She preceded Mike in death on January 20, 2009.
Mike was a PEOPLE person. He could make a friend anywhere. What made it easy for him to make new friends and connections was that he was genuinely interested in knowing you. He was like a "one-man welcoming committee" at his last residence. He enjoyed fishing, music, playing guitar, and singing especially with his family. Mike loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Mike had worked and retired from the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 136 of Evansville, IN.
He is survived by: three sons- Michael Ash and wife Kristine of Grain Valley, MO; Joseph Ash and Melissa Piper of Bridgeport, IL; and Tim Ash and wife Rachel of Newburgh, IN: three brothers- Mark Ash, Steve Ash and wife Susan, and Guy Ash and wife Patti all of Bridgeport, IL: one sister- Candy Weiss and husband Stan of Bridgeport, IL: thirteen grandchildren: and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister, Barbara Hensley.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm (CST) at the Fountain Fellowship Worship Center. A Celebration of Mike's life will follow immediately at 3:00 pm at the church. Cunningham Funeral Home is assisting his family during their time of loss.
