Mike Guy, 80, of Dubuque, died Monday, May 19, 2025, at Luther Manor in Dubuque.
Private family services were held.
Michael was born August 30, 1944, in Grosse Pointe, MI, the daughter of Henry and Helen (Adanowicz) Majeske.
Mike was a homemaker then a paraprofessional at Wahlert Catholic High School for ten years.
She had a passion for writing poetry (published twice in Lyric Iowa), reading, and watching true crime documentaries. Above all, she loved being a Nana and took great joy in hearing about her grandchildren's lives. She will be remembered for her joyful, rambunctious laugh and lipstick kisses.
From her poem titled "Dreams"
Moonlight thoughts in my head
As I lie awake in my bed.
Wondering where my dreams may go,
So they may thrive and forever grow.
Survivors include her children, Mark (Sonja) Guy of Elgin, IL, and Merek Deacon of Balgownie, Australia; four grandchildren, Nicholas Guy, Nathan Guy, Hannah Deacon, and Hailey Deacon; one brother, Hank (Jane) Majeske; and one sister, Kris (Dino) Rubio. Aunt to Darcy Volden and Manuel Rubio, and great aunt to Landen Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mike's family would like to extend a special Thank You to Luther Manor and Hospice of Dubuque for their care and support.
A poem by her son:
In study hall, young minds you did mold
You kept them in line or else you would scold
Lounging around in compression socks
Burning the brownies, now hard as rocks
Out to eat with the kids, it is such a thrill
We always keep watch, to see when you spill
You smile in pictures with your loving face
But make sure your hands are in the right place
A writer of poems, a weaver of tales
Some hard knocks in life through which she prevails
Two kids of her own, and grand there are four
They love their Nana, yes they truly adore
