He is preceded in death by his daughter, Brittney Nicole Highers; son, Matthew Coleman Highers; paternal grandparents, Hatton Coleman Highers Sr. and Betty Jo Highers; and maternal grandparents, Thomas Holt Brown and Kathleen Blythe Brown.
He is survived by his loving wife, Melissa Highers; sons, Douglas Highers Jr. (Ann) and Brandon Highers Sr.; step-son, Dylan McCabe; grandchildren, Douglas Michael Highers III, Ashlee Highers, Hunter Highers, Brandon Highers Jr., and Whalen Highers; parents, Coleman "Sonny" Highers Jr. (Felica) and Sherrie Davis; step-sister, Lindsey Kingsbery; brother-in-law, Michael McCabe; sister-in-law, Kristen McCabe, as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Mike was a 1990 graduate of Lebanon High School and a Navy veteran. He later earned a master's degree in computer science from ITT Tech. He had a passion for music and was a talented drummer. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time outdoors.
He had a great sense of humor and loved picking at people in a way that made them laugh. He enjoyed going on adventures with his wife and taking drives in his yellow Corvette. Most of all, he loved his family and will be deeply missed.
Visitation for Mike will take place Wednesday, February 26th at Partlow Funeral Chapel from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2. Interment will take place in Cedar Grove Cemetery. Bro. Carl Jones will officiate the service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

I worked with Mike on and off over the years at Fedex. Was always a pleasure to see him. We shared the same sense of humor on different levels, so there was always laughter to be had. Even though I haven't seen him in a long time, he will be missed. I'm sure I'll cross paths with him at another moment in time. Until then my friend; Fly high!

I worked with mike for a while when he was emr worker at eg1. what I remembered about him he always made you laugh even Tho you were having a bad day. mike you will be truly missed man. sorry for the loss of a great person and now God has gained a great angel.
