Michael “Mike” Roy Looper, 69, beloved husband, father, and grandfather and a resident of Culleoka, died Friday, October 10, 2025 comforted by Debbie, Michael and Crystal at TriStar Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM at South Gate Church of Christ with Jerry Elder and Bobby Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Wilkes Cemetery in Culleoka. The family will visit with friends Friday from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oakes & Nichols Funeral Home and Saturday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at South Gate Church of Christ. Mike was born on February 19, 1956 in Columbia, TN to the late Billy Gray Looper and the late Carolyn Jean Taylor Looper. He worked alongside his father with Financial Institutions Services (FISI) and Apollo Carpet for several years, a real estate agent that managed commercial property, and the last twenty years worked alongside his son with Looper Services. Mike started out his career with a three piece suit and traded it in for his Looper Services shirts, which he had in all colors that he would coordinate with his grandchildren’s sports teams.

Mike loved traveling, chasing waterfalls, duck hunting, annual golf trips, working on anything mechanical, but his greatest passion was his family. He was always present at his children’s and grandchildren’s events that they were involved in. His favorite times were spent with his family around, when given the option he would always choose to spend time at home with his family. Mike was a past member of Columbia Rotary and the Columbia Jaycees, former baseball coach and Cub Scout leader, former member of Eastside Church of Christ, and currently a member of Spring Meadows Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years Deborah “Debbie” Jane Downey Looper; son Michael (Candace) Looper; daughter Crystal (Zach) Bowman; grandchildren: Hunter (Kasey) Looper, McKenzie Looper, Hayden Looper, Bennett Bowman, and Grayson Bowman; sisters, Cindy (Dan) Kollstedt and Martha (Steve) Meservy; brothers-in-law, Dennis (Mary) Downey and Henry Hartman; mother-in-law Esma Downey; several nieces and nephews, and a number of great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Debby Looper Hartman and father-in-law Paul Downey.

Pallbearers will be Michael Looper, Hunter Looper, Zach Bowman, Bennett Bowman, Grayson Bowman, Robert Brent and Tony Sowell.
