James M. Looper, affectionately known as Jim, Gramps, Papa, PA and Mr. Looper to his family and friends, passed away on August 30, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on January 14, 1951, in Beardstown, Illinois, Jim was the cherished son of the late James Looper and Doris (Rawlins) Knorr.
Jim was born in Beardstown IL. He grew up in Shorewood, IL and was a proud graduate of Joliet West High School with the class of 1969.
After completing his education, Jim embarked on a fulfilling career with Akzo Nobel in Morris, where he worked until his well-deserved retirement.
Jim and Karen enjoyed cruising in the Caribbean, especially with his sister Jo! Jim loved spending time with all of his and Karen's extended family.
Jim's life was enriched by his loving family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Karen, who was his partner in all of life's adventures. Jim was a proud father to his children, Jaimie (Pete) Bianchetta, Jennifer Glenn-Law, and Kristina (Jimmy Voss) Looper; proud grandfather to Madison Holcomb, Blaine and Bianca Law, and Isaac Voss. He is also survived by his daughter Julie (Tim) Brown, their children Tyler, Jake and Cade Enerson, Raegan and Ryleigh Brown. His son James R. Looper, his children Kylee and Chael Looper.
In addition to his immediate family, Jim is also survived by his sister, Jo Mischker, and several nieces and nephew. And his many, many friends.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites will be accorded.
