Mike Waters, 72, of Benton, departed this life peacefully on April 20, 2024, at his home.
He was born on September 3, 1951, in Greer, South Carolina, to the late Thomas Odell Waters and Grace Leonard Coudray.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman that loved hunting, fishing, Tennessee Football, and cookouts with family and friends. Throughout his life, Mike began working construction with his father at Daniel Construction Company. Once he settled in Benton, Tennessee he worked as a painter at both Sequoyah and Watts Bar Nuclear Plants, before going back to school and enjoying a 22-year career in Administration with Ocoee Regional Health Corporation. In retirement, most of his days he enjoyed being on the Hiwassee River, caring for his river property where he spent time planning his next fishing or hunting trip.
In addition to his parents, Thomas Odell Waters and Grace Leonard Coudray, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, and lifetime love, Faye Waters; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roscoe and Willie Moats; and sister, Joan Beasley.
Left to cherish the many memories include his beloved children, Joe (Donna) Waters, Angie (Jamie) Davis and Natalie (Eddie) Didona; grandchildren, Madison (Wes) Fazia, Nate Waters, Gracie Waters, Dawson Davis, Braxton Davis (Amber Silvers), Kameron Didona, and Kinsley Didona; great grandchildren, Parker Fazia, Maxwell Fazia, Xander Torney, Haislee Davis, and Carson Davis; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-laws, Dean Waters, Roberta and Roy Campbell, Bill and Louetta Moats, Gary Beasley and his daughter, Jennie Beasley; loving companion, Jan Jakob; almost son, Rick Smith, and many beloved friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be conducted at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2024, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home, with Reverend Allan Lawhorn officiating.
Family and friends will gather from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.higginsfuneral.com.
