Danny Bates

Sammy "Danny" Bates, 78, of Delano, departed this life peacefully on February 4, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on June 25, 1947, in Reliance, to the late Luke and Carrie Jenkins Bates. Danny was a lover of life, enjoyed simple things, and loved his family. A few of his fondest memories included mountain rides with his family and spending time with his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, Luke and Carrie Bates, he was preceded in death by his 4 brothers, Wilford Bates, Ray Bates, Gerald Bates, and Jimmy Bates; 2 sisters, Billie Carroll and Annette Hooper.

Left to cherish the many memories include his two sons, Travis Bates, and Dustin (Tanya) Bates; 5 brothers and sisters, Mickey (June) Bates, Ross (Mary) Bates, Nina Rowland, Dorene Bates, and Kay Woodruff; grandchildren, Cysler (Will) White, Noah Bates, and Molly Bates; and an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 9, 2026, in the chapel of Higgins Funeral Home of Benton, with Pastor Zach Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Burchfield Cemetery, with his family and friends serving as pallbearers.

His family will receive friends from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
