Mildred Gutzman passed away Monday, February 24, 2025 at age 93. Mildred was born February 1, 1932 and raised in DesPlaines. She and her dad moved around frequently when she growing up and because of this Mildred hoped to be married one day and have her forever home. Her father built the last home she lived at in DesPlaines. Mildred married William in 1951 and he preceded her in death in 2014. They raised their family in the home her dad built, complete with the white pickett fence. Mildred was all about family and loved kids. She was the neighborhood babysitter known to all the kids as grandma. Her backyard was always filled with kids. At age 93 Mildred was the last of the original owners in her small neighborhood. She is survived by her son Buzz (Debbie) Gutzman and daughter Cathy Holtz, grandchildren Kimberly (Chris) Nowak, Billy Gutzman, Scott Holtz and Lisa Holtz, great grandchildren David Banach, Emily Banach, Ryan Nowak, Riley Nowak, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents Victor (Mildred, nee Palmer) Parent, her sister Gert Tonn and brother Donald Parent. Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at St. Zachary Parish, 567 W. Algonquin Road, Des Plaines, IL 60018, beginning at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Ridgewood Cemetery in DesPlaines, IL. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite animal shelter. Arrangements have been entrusted to Matz Mt. Prospect Funeral Chapel 410 E. Rand Rd. Mt. Prospect, Il 60056. For further information please call (847) 394-2336.
