Mildred Anna (Croasdale) Kapigian, age 95, of Brunswick, OH,
(formerly of Haddon Heights, NJ) went home to be with the Lord on
April 10, 2025. She is survived by her children, Susan McAveety, Diane
Petek, and David Kapigian; grandchildren, Mitchell, Gabrielle, Joelle,
Wyatt, Michelle, and Sarah; sons-in-law, Sean McAveety and Daniel
Petek, sister Linda Abbott, brother-in-law Larry Abbott, sister-in-law
Sonia Kapigian, and numerous nieces and a nephew. She was
preceded in death by her loving husband, Haig Kapigian.
Mildred was born on December 14, 1929, in Camden, NJ to Anna Wyatt
(Wagner) Croasdale and Joseph Elmer Croasdale. She was the
oldest of 4 daughters. She graduated from Audubon High School in 1945.
She graduated from the Nursing School of the University of Pennsylvania and worked in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania for several years. She served as a nurse to the Navajo
Nation at their Reservation in Tuba City, AZ in 1954. She then returned
to Philadelphia, graduated from the Philadelphia Bible Institute in
1955, and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from
Temple University in 1963. She and husband Haig moved in 1966 to
Haddon Heights, NJ where they had three children and attended Mt.
Ephraim Baptist Church for many years. She returned to the church
in which she was raised, Haddon Heights Baptist Church, in the late
1970's where she would teach the Kindergarten Sunday School,
manage the church Library, and volunteer with VBS. Additionally, she
spent many weeks over the years as the camp nurse for the church-
sponsored camp, New Life Island. She was a faithfully serving
member of Haddon Heights Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Later in life she earned a Teaching Certificate from Glassboro State
College and worked at a variety of nursing jobs in South Jersey
including home health care, school nurse, nurse at Wiley Nursing
Home, and being a substitute school nurse for the Haddon Heights Public School District.
She was still substituting as needed until the age of 85! Mildred was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, knitting, and gardening.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service to be
held at Haddon Heights Baptist Church, 300 Station Avenue in
Haddon Heights, NJ 08035 on Saturday, June 7 th, 2025 at 11:00am with
visitation beginning at 10:30am.
Family requests that any memorial contributions be made to either
Haddon Heights Baptist Church or New Life Island at the above listed
address.
Services are under the care of DuBois Funeral Home, 700 South White
Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ. Condolences and memories may be
