Mildred King Obituary
Mildred H. King, age 94 of Lake City, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 9, 2025, after a long illness. She was born March 16, 1931, in Jasper, Florida to the late David Hurst and Pearlie Crews Hurst. She came to Lake City at an early age and graduated from Columbia High School in 1949. In 1952, she married Albert J. King, and they raised four children together. She worked in the office at Summers Chevrolet for twenty years, then worked at the VA Medical Center for twenty years, starting as a Unit Secretary before moving to the Fiscal Department and retiring as the Agent Cashier in 1996. Mildred loved cooking and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed trips to St. Augustine Beach and Tennessee with her sisters. She was a dedicated member of the Lake City Church of God for more than eighty years, serving in many roles and attending all services that she could. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband of fifty-six years: Albert J. King Sr., her son: Jerry King, son and daughter-in-law: Ronnie and Susie King, sisters: Gladys (Ferris) Markham, Thelma Cox, Shirley (Robert) Espenship, Linda (Roy) Greene, and brothers: Howard Hurst and Paul Hurst. Mrs. King is survived by her daughter: Janet (Mark) Tuttle; son: Dale (Tina) King; grandchildren: Nick (Jessie) Tuttle, Megan Tuttle, Kelli Poore, Kerri (Chris) Couture, Dale (Tara) King Jr., Ashley (Kevin) Kennington, and Holly (Chris) Tomlinson; twenty great grandchildren; sisters: Betty Mauldin French and Nancy Baskette; sister-in-law: Patricia Singley, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special thanks are given to the nurses, CNA's and rehabilitation staff at Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and Vitas Hospice for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Saturday, August 16, 2025, at Lake City Church of God with Pastors Carl Thomas and Dennis McMillan officiating. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Cemetery, Lake City. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Guerry Funeral Home, 2659 SW Main Blvd, Lake City, is honored to serve the King family.
