Our dear mother, Mildred Evelyn Ashbrook Renfrow, departed this earthly life for an eternal life in heaven on April 9, 2024 at the age of 100 years. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who was always there when we needed her and prayed for all of us every day. She was loved and respected by her family and many friends.

Mildred was born in Graysonia, AR, received her nursing degree at St. Josephs in Hot Springs, and provided compassionate care to patients at Arkansas Childrens Hospital, Fort Roots Hospital, and Arkansas State Hospital for many years before retiring in 1985.

She was an active member of Twelfth Street Baptist Church, now Heritage Baptist Temple, for over sixty years. Throughout her life she was an avid gardener growing beautiful flowers, canning fruits and vegetables, and loved cooking for and feeding her family, friends, and neighbors.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents: Nellie and Darius Ashbrook; her first husband James Caddell, and her husband of 25 years, R.H. Renfrow; children: Shirley Renfrow, Billie Renfrow and Gene Renfrow; and grandson, Christopher Pepper. She is survived by her children: Marjorie (Butch) Pepper, William Caddell, and Natalie DeHart; grandchildren: Keeffe (Kim) Pepper, Brittanee Pepper, Brandie (Kris) Kaczmarek, Christopher Caddell, Susan (Rusty) Womble, Lori (Kenneth) Wilcox, Buddy (Christy) Holly and Kim (Tony) Williams; and several great-grandchildren who will carry on her legacy of kindness and joy.

Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Sunday, April 14th at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home. Funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Mildred Renfrow will be held on Monday, April 15th 2024 at 1:30 pm at Heritage Baptist Temple and burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Mildred will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
