As a teenager she met Robert "Bob" Rhoades at a Bible Conference in New Jersey; they later married in 1954. After obtaining her nursing license from West Suburban School of Nursing, she began working at Cuba Memorial Hospital. Mitzi worked there for 30 years in the Med-Surgery ward.
Mitzi is preceded in death by her husband, Robert (Bob) their son, Brian Rhoades, in 2012, and by their daughter, Sandra Rhoades, who passed away in March 2022.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Gary) Bell of West End, daughter Cathy Pitt of Eugene, Oregon, son David (Emily) Rhoades of Wilmington, and daughter Lori (Joe) Wachter of West End; 16 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
She loved her Savior, Jesus Christ, and her family. She will be greatly missed by all of us.
A memorial service will be held at Yates-Thagard Baptist Church on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2 p.m.
