Obituary Mildred Elaine Searle
Mildred Elaine Searle, 78, of Blackfoot, Idaho, passed away peacefully at her home, surrounded by the family she loved so deeply, on Sunday, December 28, 2025, following complications from a brain tumor.
Elaine was born on February 22, 1947, in Mobile, Alabama, to Willie Jewel Jones and Joseph Robinson. During her childhood, her family moved to Los Angeles, California, and later to Beatty, Nevada. She spent much of her youth traveling between Alabama and Missouri, visiting extended family.
On December 28, 1976, Elaine married the love of her life, Billy Lee Searle, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Together, they blended their families and built a life centered on love, care, and commitment. They spent many happy years in Las Vegas before retiring to Blackfoot, Idaho, to be closer to family.
Elaine worked for many years at the Showboat Hotel in Las Vegas, where she found her true calling in childcare. She lovingly cared for the children of fellow employees and families visiting the city for bowling tournaments.
Elaine's life was filled with simple joys and generous acts. She was happiest when she was making handmade blankets for family and friends, tending to her flowers for hours in her yard, cheering on her favorite football team the New England Patriots, canning foods from her orchard and garden, cooking meals that brought everyone together, or tackling do-it-yourself projects-not only in her own home, but in the homes of many others she was always willing to help. Her hands were rarely still, and her heart was always open.
Her greatest joy came in 2005 when she became "Nana" with the birth of her first great-grandchild. That joy continued to increase with each new addition. She did her best to attend as many activities, celebrations, and milestones in the lives of her family as she could. Family was always her priority, and her love was felt deeply by all who knew her.
Elaine is survived by her devoted husband, Bill Searle of Blackfoot; her stepfather, Gary Brasel of Beatty, Nevada; her brothers, David Marschand, Kenny Marschand, and Ronnie Robinson; and her children: Sherry (Danny) Moton of North Carolina, Debbie Doig of Blackfoot, Steven Harvey of Blackfoot, Billy Searle of Texas, Kristie Treese of Las Vegas, Billy (Crystal) Horne of Massachusetts, and David Searle of Texas. She was a proud grandmother to 13 grandchildren, a Nana whose greatest joy was her 15 great-grandchildren, and a loving Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister-in-law Joann Cox, her best friend and sister, Betty Jane Rafferty; and her mother-in-law, Dorothy Searle.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Aspen Home Health and Hospice, as well as Steven Harvey and Camille Doig, for the compassion, care, and love they showed Elaine in her final days.
No formal services are planned at this time. Arrangements will be announced later by Hawker Funeral Home.
