Mildred Louise Smith passed on to God's care on June 7, 2025 after a short illness.
Born on May 29, 1936 to Anna Taylor (Harper) and Bruce Taylor in West Virginia and the eldest of five children, Mildred lived in Ohio for the majority of her adult life.
Mildred, or Louise as she was called by many, was widowed, leaving behind two children, Marilyn Fidler of Dublin, Ohio and Marvin Smith of Maple Heights, Ohio. She also leaves behind two grandchildren and one great-grandchild, one brother, two brothers-in-law, two sisters-in-law, and two nephews preceded her in death, leaving two sisters and one brother, as well as five nieces, and two great-nephews.
Mildred worked as a homemaker, assisting the elderly and disabled for many years, then as a nanny for the Ross family. She considered the Ross family as her family as well.
She was an avid Ohio State Buckeyes fan and enjoyed watching the games on television with her parakeets and in her last years with Roxy, a Westie she spoiled rotten. Mildred also enjoyed game shows and reruns of the Golden Girls. Her craft of choice was crochet and she made everything, from doll clothes and doilies to tablecloths and house shoes for family and friends.
She touched the hearts of many people over the years and she will be missed.
A memorial gathering will take place on September 19th, 2025 at Newcomer Funeral Home Powell Chapel from 1pm to 2pm, followed by the memorial service at 2pm. 10051 Brewster Lane Powell, OH 43065
