Mildred Marie Arterberry Woods passed away Monday, February 23rd at Wilson N. Jones in Sherman, TX.

She was born to Charlie Lee and Millie Arterberry on August 30, 1949, in Denison, Texas.

She married the love of her life, David Woods on September 18, 1989.

She graduated from Whitewright High School in 1966, after integration from Fred Douglas in Sherman, Texas. She received her LVN degree and Bachelor of Nursing degree from Grayson County College in Denison, Texas and Cal State Dominques Hills in Carson, California.

Her hobbies included cooking, crocheting, working puzzles and sewing, just to name a few.

On February 23, 2026, Mildred left this labor for one of reward. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Millie Arterberry; son Marcus Woods; sisters Linda Bradford and Anita Ann Arterberry; and brother James Arterberry.

Left to cherish her memory are children Dwayne Arterberry-Woods, Patrick Woods of Whitewright, TX, Darrin Woods, Derrick Woods, Shawn Woods, April Crawford and Katurah Woods all of Los Angeles, CA.; sisters Geanetta Hinojos of Wichita, KS., Kristen Arterberry (Odell) of Bakersfield, CA., brothers Ralph Barnum, Marven Arterberry (LaWanda) of Whitewright, TX, Samuel Arterberry (Theresa) of Tacoma, WA., and Thomas Arterberry of Bakersfield, CA.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Her legacy and amazing love for her family will continue to live on forever! To know her was to love her, and life will not be the same here on earth without her.

A public visitation will be Friday, February 27, 2026 at Waldo Funeral home from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Funeral Service will be Saturday, February 28, 2026 at 11 a.m. in the Bethel Baptist Church, 3072 Highway 160 Whitewright, Texas. Reverend George Schreck is the host pastor and Reverend Lee Edwards II will be officiating. Burial will follow at Oakhill Cemetery.
