Milton Davis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Olmstead Funeral Home - Heber Springs on Dec. 23, 2025.
Milton Bludworth Davis, a devoted servant of Christ, educator, coach, pastor, and beloved family man, was born on January 6, 1929, in Orange, Texas, to Robert Lee Davis and Elsie Bludworth Davis. He departed peacefully at his home on December 21, 2025.
Milton pursued higher education with distinction, earning double master's degrees in education and theology. His life reflected a rare blend of intellectual rigor, faithfulness to Scripture, and dedication to mentoring others both in mind and spirit.
An accomplished athlete and coach, Milton narrowly missed selection to the U.S. Olympic Team in 1952 by just three-tenths of a point. He went on to achieve national and international recognition, winning the Naval Olympics and later serving as the U.S. Women's Coach for the World Championships in 1968-an honor that reflected both his expertise and leadership.
Milton dedicated much of his professional life to teaching and ministry. He served on the faculty of Presbyterian Day School and on the staff of Second Presbyterian Church. Answering God's call to pastoral ministry, he faithfully shepherded congregations at Covenant Presbyterian Church, Pendleton Presbyterian Church, Christ Presbyterian Church, and Adamsville Presbyterian Church, leaving a lasting spiritual impact in each community.
He was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Peggy Davis. He is survived by his wife, Sigrid Long Davis of Heber Springs, AR and by his children and grandchildren:
· Scott Davis and his wife Sue Anne, and their children
Andrew, Sam (JoAnna) Davis and Elisabeth
· Peter Davis and his wife Grace, and their children
Joshua (Lindsay) Davis and Jonathon (Kristien) Davis
· Rich Davis and his wife Angie, and their children
Daniel (Molly) Davis and David (Emma) Davis
· Jan Davis Pierce and her husband Scott Pierce, and their children
Davis (Taylor) Pierce, Nathan (Elle) Pierce, Joel, and Michelle
· Nan Davis Wilson and her husband Rob Wilson, and their children:
Aaron (Ashley) Wilson, Rachel, Stephen, Luke, Joanna, and John
He also is survived by 17 great grandchildren.
Milton Davis' lifelong endeavor was to teach the Scriptures and to help others learn and grow in their knowledge of and relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. His legacy lives on through the many lives he taught, coached, pastored, and loved as well as through a family grounded in faith, service, and devotion.
He will be remembered for his wisdom, humility, discipline, and unwavering commitment to Christ, whom he served faithfully until the end of his days.
Funeral for Milton B Davis will be at Little Red River Baptist Association located at 1325 Heber Springs Rd. S., Heber Springs, AR, at 3pm Saturday, December 27, 2025.

Rev. Davis had a great influence on me early in my Christian life in the 80's at Pendleton Presbyterian. I greatly respected him, and I am sure I frustrated him at times. I miss him.
