SERVICE FOLDER -- SERVICE PHOTOS -- MILTON'S FUNERAL
Milton A. Herrboldt, 88, Hosmer, SD, died Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Bowdle Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 9, 2023 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hosmer, with Pastor Janet Sandmeier leading the service. Interment, with military graveside rites by the Adolph Forkel American Legion Post No. 189, Hosmer, SD, follows at Bethany Cemetery, Hosmer. Musicians will be Joyce Heyne and Wesley Schaible and usher will be Kathy Opp. The congregation will sing "Oh Master Let Me Walk with You" and "When Peace Like a River". Joyce Heyne and Wesley Schaible will sing "What a Day that Will Be" and "Children of the Heavenly Father".
Funeral Home visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Sunday with family present from 5:00-6:00 PM.
Milton Adam Herrboldt, son of Emma (Streeb) and Arthur Herrboldt, was born February 22, 1934 at Hosmer. He was brought up in Hosmer, attended Hosmer Public School and graduated with the HHS Class of 1952. Milton served his country in the United States Army, being inducted March 26, 1953. Following his honorable discharge on March 25, 1955, he attended Dunwoody Institute in
Minneapolis, MN where he studied welding and machinist work, earning Master Welder recognition. He then returned to Hosmer where he entered the family business, A. Herrboldt and Company, a farm implement and repair enterprise. Milton was gifted with the ability to fix almost anything. In the late 1970's he sold his share of the business and entered into Gab Motors in Eureka, SD. Upon retirement, he worked at the gas station in Hosmer. Milton was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church where he held many offices. He also belonged to the Hosmer Legion Post and was a Hosmer Volunteer fireman, having served as Fire Chief for 35 years! Milton's hobbies included gardening, mowing lawn, and bird watching.
Milton is survived by Joyce, his wife of 61 years; three sons-Nathan (Lori) Herrboldt of Willmar, MN, David (Theresa) Herrboldt of
Sioux Falls, SD, and Jonathan Herrboldt of
Montrose, CO; three sisters-Doris Carlson of Crosby, MN, Betty Marie Schutte of Delaware, OH, and Janis Fiechtner of
Cheyenne, WY; two granddaughters, three step grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and nine step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur, on December 23, 1983; his mother, Emma, on September 26, 1992; one son (Kevin); one brother; and one sister.

Casketbearers will be granddaughters-Heidi Herrboldt of
Marshall, MN and Brittany Gaffney of Willmar; and also Blair and Julie Loebs of Britton, SD, Levi Geer of Marshall, and Bob Wigdall of Aberdeen, SD.
