Milton LeRoy Morrison, 92 of Denison, Iowa, peacefully passed away on February 12, 2024 surrounded by loved ones at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa.
Milton was born on October 8th, 1931 to Lenox and Minnie (Jefferis) Morrison in Little Sioux, Iowa. At a young age, Milton began helping his father on the farm before embarking on his lifetime career in the grain industry. His passion for agriculture led him to become a grain inspector and trainer where he dedicated almost 50 years before retiring in 1997.
Milton's life was intertwined with love and family. It was during a double date with his cousin Ed and Vera’s sister Norma in Crescent, Iowa when fate introduced Milton to Vera Knapp. They instantly connected and were married on December 24, 1950. Together they navigated through life's joys and challenges, raising five wonderful children: Colleen, Michael, Jolene, Janet, and Carla. After their marriage, Milton and Vera initially resided in Council Bluffs, Iowa before embarking on an adventure by moving to Texas in 1959. Subsequently, they returned to Nebraska and Iowa before finally settling in Denison, the place they called home.
Milton possessed many talents and interests that enriched his life and brought smiles to those around him. In his early years, he had a passion for boxing and even competed as a member of the Golden Gloves. He would often tease his grandkids that he came up with Muhammad Ali's famous quote: "Float like a butterfly sting like a bee." Music was another great love of Milton's life; he could always be found playing the guitar or singing along to George Jones songs. However, above all else, Milton cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. They brought him immeasurable happiness, and he treasured every moment with them.
Milton was preceded in death by his loving wife, Vera; daughters: Colleen Bubke and Carla Rankin; parents, Lenox and Minnie; sons-in-law: Leon (Pork) Bubke and Dennis Rogers; 14 siblings; many sisters and brothers-in-law; great granddaughter ,Jalynn Williams; grandson-in-law, Joey Rathbun.
