Milton Wald Obituary

Published by Claire Brothers Funeral Home - Houston from Sep. 28 to Sep. 29, 2018.
Milton Max Wald passed away in Houston on September 21, 2018 after a multiyear battle with Myasthenia Gravis. He was born to David and Nettie Wald in San Francisco and grew up there and in Los Angeles, but has lived in Houston for the last 45 years. Milton graduated from UCLA and then USC with a Ph.D. in Chemistry. He met Virginia Switzer, his future wife, while working at Brookhaven National Labs in New York. They were married in 1954 in Symrna, Georgia and started their family in Walnut Creek, California before moving to Houston. He was retired from a long career as a research chemist with Shell Development in Emeryville, California and then in Houston. He was an avid reader, especially of short  stories and science fiction and an expert chess and bridge player. Milton is survived by his two children; Linda and  Lawrence and two grandchildren, Lilibet and  Chloe.  In lieu of  flowers, memorials may be sent to the  Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America or your favorite charity in honor of Milt. There will be a memorial service for Milton on Friday, September 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Claire Brothers Funeral Home, 7901 Hillcroft Street, Houston, Texas.
