Minerva H. Montez, Beloved Spouse, Mother, Nana and Great Grandmother passed away on November 1, 2025 peacefully in her sleep. She lived a remarkable and long life for 100 years and six months. She was proudest of being a Navy Wife and followed her husband Fred M. Montez throughout his 30 year Naval career, steadfastly fulfilling her duties as guide and caretaker of her family at his duty stations. She was dispenser of the wisdom gained by growing up in the Great Depression, learning to share and work together in a large family, having to endure rationing during World War II and being the sole parent necessitated when her husband was out to sea or deployed. She had her opinions and whether you agreed with them or not you paid attention and gleaned good advice from all of them. She once said she didn't work but stayed home to raise her children. With us five children always underfoot, it sure could be called work!!
She is now joined with her beloved husband, Fred, and will be dancing the night away as they always did. She was the 9th of 15 children and was one of three remaining siblings when she passed away. She leaves behind 4 of her 5 children, Bill(Belinda), Rick(Patricia), Sandy(Bill) and Deborah. Her 5th child, Larry, passed away in 2011. She also leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. We will miss her immensely, but she was embraced by the arms of our lord and savior Jesus Christ on her own terms and in her own time.
Special thanks for the loving care she received as a resident of Stone Oak Care Center and the caring staff who attended her for the past 4 years. You made her life a joy and threw her a grand 100th birthday party this past April. We love you Momma and will always remember the unselfish love and wisdom you gave us all.
