Minnie Frances Dates, 76, of Port Charlotte, Florida passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025. Born on January 7, 1949, to the late Ira and Lillie Nipper Powell in Arcadia, Florida. Ms. Minnie loved pictures, gardening, listening to music, reading, visiting the beach, and watching sunsets-but above all, she cherished her family and her faith in the Lord.

Ms. Minnie is survived by her children: Rob Rice (Melissa Drake), Keith Rice (Lisa), Jay Rice (Kristee) and Anola Clanton (Aubrey); Brother: John Powell (Kathy); Sister: Faye Fowler (Terry); Daughter in law: Kelly Rice

Grandchildren: Branden Rice (Joanie), Ashley Newberry (JR), Mercedes McClain (Kris), Brittany Rice, Jayson Rice, Austin Rice, Jaiden Porter, Isaiah Porter, Tre Thomas, Joshua Rice, Jacob Rice; Great-Grandchildren: Kristopher, Michael, Jackson, Colton, Chloe, Cyrus, Baine, Gavin, Hutten, Ryder, Ida-Mae, Mireya along with many extended family and friends.

Ms. Minnie had a big place in heart for her beloved feline's: Cee-Cee & Lovie.

She single handedly obtained her RN nursing degree while raising 4 children and worked in the nursing field for over 30 years. Many of those years she worked as a traveling nurse and visited many places. Her last few working years was at Walmart in Arcadia, where she touched many lives with her sweet personality. Ms. Minnie was a faithful member of the Upper Room Church of God and will be greatly missed by her church family.

She is preceded in death by her parents and one daughter: Micah Tinney Porter.

A funeral service for Ms. Minnie Dates will be held at 12:00pm on October 11, 2025, at the Upper Room Church of God in Arcadia, Florida, Interment will follow immediately after the service to Joshua Creek Cemetery.
