Nancy Joy Dates, 87, of Texas City, Texas passed away peacefully, Sunday, January 20, 2025, in Texas City, Texas. Joy was born October 1, 1937, in Jacksonville, Florida to the late Catherine (Lynn) Klein and Samuel Klein.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Pat Parnell and husband Jim of Santa Fe, TX., son Timothy Kennedy, of Willis, Tx., granddaughter Patricia Kennedy of Gulf Shores, TX., and daughter Tammy Kennedy of Texas City, TX.
Joy had a small business "Joy Us Things" making Quillo blankets and other crafts for several years in the Texas City area. She truly enjoyed attending the College of the Mainland learning computer technology. She also loved spending time with family and friends.
She is remembered as being very kind and caring and will be missed dearly.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Gary Dates; daughter Pam (Kennedy) Casteel of Fort Worth, TX., son Curt Maris of Buffalo, NY; grandsons Chad Kennedy and wife Angela of Santa Fe, TX., Bradley Kennedy of Fort Worth, TX., Jordan Kennedy and Fiancée Yami of Willis, TX., Josh Pegoda and wife Shaun of Willis, TX., Jeremy Pegoda and wife Wendy of Cut & Shoot, TX., Dustin Casteel and wife Haley of Ansbach, Germany, nieces Cheryl Ann Anderson, Jami Long, Lori and husband Ron Naquin, Jim Parnell and wife Christine, Kristi Cumby and numerous great grandchildren and friends.
Funeral services will be at Noon Saturday, January 25, 2025, in the chapel of Emken-Linton Funeral Home, 5100 Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Texas City, TX.
The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 11:00 a.m. until Noon, Saturday morning prior to the services.
