Minoru “Min” Hamada passed away Saturday, March 25, 2023. He was born March 10, 1923 to Kanekichi and Kasumi Masuda Hamada in Ogden, Utah. Min resided in Ogden most of his childhood and helped on his father and mother’s farm.
Min met Martha Sugihara at the Royal Cannery in Ogden where she worked. They were married March 18, 1946 after he served two years of active military service with the 442nd Regimental Combat Team in France and Italy. He and his wife resided in Roy for over 40 years prior to moving to Riverdale in 1998. Min moved to Treeo Senior Living in South Ogden in 2021.
Min worked at Hill Air Force Base as a Dental Lab Technician until he retired in 1980 after over 30 years of service. He continued working in the dental field for Dr. Mark Eggert for over 10 years.
He was a member and Elder of the Ogden Christian Church and served as a volunteer at the Riverdale Senior Center. He was a former member of the Roy Jaycees and Roy Volunteer Fire Department.
Min is survived by his two sons and their wives, Lynard (Frances) Hamada of Ogden and Duane (Carol) Hamada of Tracy, CA; two granddaughters, Becky (Robert) Bardago and Kayla (Craig) Matsuda; two great-granddaughters, Tialani and Taelynn Bardago; two great-grandsons, Min and Rafe Matsuda and one sister, Haru Toimoto of Bountiful.
He was preceded in death by his wife, who passed away in 2007; his parents; four brothers and a sister, Masaru Hamada, Shigaru Hamada, Yorito Hamada, Dick Hamada, and Mitsuko Enomoto.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
Entombment at a later date, at the Good Shepherd Abby Mausoleum, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
