Paul McEwan

Paul Michael McEwan was born on April 6, 1938, in Long Beach, California, to Arnold and Ida (Kinney) McEwan. He graduated from Jordan High School in 1956. He went to college to get an electrical engineering degree and got a job at Southern California Edison. He worked there until he earned enough money to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He was called to Argentina on his mission, where he met his love, Marilynn Luck. In 1961, he returned home from his mission, and he and Marilynn were married in the Salt Lake City Temple. He worked for the City of Long Beach and later for US Borax. He enjoyed working with computers and programmed even in his later years. Marilynn and Paul served a Spanish -speaking Stake Mission later in life. He loved helping others and became a skilled woodworker after retirement. He was known to build furniture for family and friends, accepting only a batch of plain oatmeal cookies for payment. He loved spending time with his grandkids and later with his great grandchildren. He was always grateful that he had learned to speak Spanish on his mission, he would often speak it with his wife when he didn't want his children to know what they were discussing. He moved into an assisted living home in July of 2023, where he met a new companion, Gaye Stagge. They married in 2024, but he found himself widowed again in September of 2025. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Ida McEwan, two brothers Robert and Ronnie McEwan; his wives Marilynn McEwan and Gaye Stagge. He is survived by 3 children: Michael McEwan (Heather), Darcey Krogue (Bruce), and Jared McEwan (Suzanne). He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Services will be held at Myers Mortuary in Ogden, Utah. The viewing will be held Friday, March 6th, from 4:00 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 7th at 5:00 p.m. There will be a graveside service at Rose Hills in Whittier, California on March 12th at 3:00 p.m. Friends and family are invited to share memories or photos of Paul on his memorial page at http://www.myers-mortuary.com.
