Mireille Moorman-Kai Obituary

MIREILLE "MIMI" MOORMAN-KAI It is with deep love and sadness that we announce the passing of Mireille "Mimi" Moorman-Kai, who left us peacefully on October 25, 2025, at Rainy Lake Medical Center in International Falls, Minnesota. She was surrounded by her devoted daughter Barbara Moorman (Blake), her loving son Pierre Moorman, and her adoring grandchildren Robert Moorman IV, Joey Moorman, Kristy Holmstad, and Mireille Moorman. She was born to parents Roger and Juillet Duquenet on August 30, 1939, in St. Laurent, France. Mimi lived a life full of love, laughter, and compassion. During her younger years, she married her first husband, Robert Moorman II, who was serving in the military. Together, they began their family in France, where their sons Robert and Pierre were born. The family was later reassigned to Colorado, where Mimi gave birth to their daughter Barbara while stationed on an army base. Following that, they relocated to Germany for Robert's next military assignment, continuing their journey abroad before eventually settling in North America. Mimi dedicated her life to helping others as a caregiver and nurse, offering kindness, empathy, and comfort wherever she went. Her nurturing spirit extended far beyond her professionshe was the heart of her family, the one who always had a warm smile, a listening ear, and an open heart. She later married Thomas Kai, with whom she shared 35 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Together, they enjoyed traveling, gardening, and cherishing life's simple pleasures. Mimi was known for her many passions and talents. She was an avid gardener, cook, and baker. She loved sewing, making clothes, and taking bike rides around her summer home at Peacock Point. She found joy in exercising with friends, hosting gatherings, and creating a home filled with warmth and laughter. Above all, Mimi will be remembered as "the sweetest person"someone who loved everyone and was loved by all in return. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Moorman II; her beloved sons Robert Moorman III and Jourdan Pierre Moorman; and her dear husband Thomas (Grahm) Kai. Mimi is survived by her loving children Barbara Moorman Blake and Pierre Moorman; her cherished grandchildren, Robert Moorman IV, Joey Moorman, Kristy Holmstad, and Mireille "Misty" Moorman; eleven great-grandchildren who will carry her light forward for generations to come; and her beloved stepchildren Joanne Kai, Anita, and Jeffery, along with numerous step-grandchildren who adored her dearly. Mimi's life was a beautiful example of love, grace, and gratitude. She will be forever remembered for her gentle heart, her unwavering devotion to family and the joy she brought to everyone she met. Her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 11:00 am at Green-Larsen Mortuary.
