Miriam Eulogia Velazquez, 76, passed away on August 8th, 2024, at the Huntsman Cancer Institute due to complications from Leukemia and Pulmonary Fibrosis. Born on March 11th, 1948, in a rural town of El Salvador, Miriam was the beloved daughter of Concepcion Alvarenga and Guillermo Bonilla. At the young age of 18, she immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a better life.
On September 15th, 1979, Miriam married the love of her life, Richard Franklin Velazquez Sr. Together, they shared a deep bond until Richard's passing on October 16th, 2000. In 1985, they settled in Brigham City, Utah, where they soon after started Ricardo's Mexican Restaurant. Over the years, the restaurant became a beloved local establishment, celebrated for its authentic cuisine and exceptional customer service. Ricardo's now proudly marks 33 years in business, a testament to Miriam's dedication and hard work.
Miriam was a woman of unwavering faith and lived a life of selfless service. She touched countless lives in her community, including over 20 years of volunteer spiritual support to women at the Weber and Box Elder County jails. Her sense of humor, love for making others laugh, and relentless determination to push her own personal limits made her a role model to many.
Miriam is survived by her three sons, Sergio, William, and Richard Jr.; and her nine grandchildren: Aaron, Vivette, Sergio Jr, Derek, Tristan, William Jr, Isabella, Elijah, and Daniella, who will forever cherish her memory.
A viewing service will be held on Friday, August 16th, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, and again on Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 PM, preceding the funeral service from 3:00 to 4:00 PM, at Gillies Funeral Home, located at 634 East 200 South in Brigham City, Utah.
Miriam will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in peace.
