Mishelle K. Gerdes

Mishelle Gerdes, age 53, of rural Pomeroy, lost her battle with cancer on September 14, 2025, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital. Visitation will be from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church, Pomeroy. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am, Thursday, September 18, 2025 at St. John Lutheran Church, with Grayson Daganaar officiating.

Mishelle Kay Vosberg was born February 1, 1972 in Fort Dodge. She was raised on the family farm south of Manson and was in the last graduating class of the Manson High School Eagles in 1990. After graduating from Buena Vista in 1995, she spent the next 30 years teaching at South Central Calhoun Elementary School in Rockwell City. Mishelle married Steve Gerdes on June 19, 1999. In addition to teaching, Mishelle farmed with her husband, Steve. Mishelle was a devoted wife and mother to her three children, Eric, Luke and Natalie. She would say that she had the most wonderful husband and children, and was "blessed with the best" family and friends. Mishelle was the life of the party and a friend to everyone. Throughout her illness, her deep and abiding faith never wavered, holding fast to the promise of eternal life in heaven.

Mishelle is survived by her husband, Steve Gerdes; her children, Eric Gerdes, Luke Gerdes and Natalie Gerdes, all of Pomeroy; sister DeeAnn (Scott) Otto of Manson, brother Kevin (Patty) Vosberg of Manson, sister Brenda (Bob) Keck
of Adel, mother-in-law Kay Gerdes, brother-in-law David Gerdes, sister-in-law Gayle (John) Johnson, sister-in-law Lorie Gerdes, brother-in-law Larry Gerdes and brother-in-law Jason (Joni) Gerdes, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer "Louie" and Karen Vosberg and father-in-law Loren Gerdes.
