Misty Dawn Belew, 49, of Sundown passed from this life on May 26, 2025. Visitation will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 2, 2025, at Park Drive Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
Misty was born on October 31,1975 in Lubbock to Sammy Belew and Shirleen Butner. She lived in Smyer and attended school until the sixth grade before moving to Sundown where she competed in track, band and basketball. She finished her high school career as a Sundown Roughneck. She furthered her education by obtaining her degree in cosmetology and medical billing. She married Frank Hernandez in December of 1991 in Levelland. Frank was in the military and together they moved to North Carolina. They were blessed with four children, Frank, Samantha, Joseph and Lynelle. After the military they came back to Sundown.
Misty loved to work. She worked at Area Wide Medical and was an insurance adjuster for Texas Mutual. In her free time, she was a shopaholic, browsing and purchasing items on Amazon and Temu. She loved to do yard work, refinish furniture and DIY projects but her biggest hobby was her family and especially her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Jo and Raymond Belew; maternal grandparents, Glen and Bobbie Nell Butner; father, Sammy Belew; step mother, Beth Belew; stepfather, Carl Huckeby and uncle, Danny Belew.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include her mother, Shirleen Huckeby (Durwood Miller); siblings, Jason Belew (Mandy), Nathan Belew, Gerika Belew (John) and Jayden Belew (Kayla); children, Frank Hernandez (Megan), Samantha Hernandez, Joseph Hernandez (April), Lynelle Newsom (Payton); grandchildren, Adilyn, Emery, Mason, Eastyn, Braylin, Michael, Aspyn, and Walker; along with a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces.
