Misty Crayton Obituary
Dr. Misty Marie Crayton was born May 30, 1980, to Richard Crayton and Lynette Crayton Barnett. She entered eternal rest on November 25, 2025. She was preceded in death by her parents.
A 1998 graduate of North Atlanta High School, Dr. Crayton was a gifted pianist and saxophonist whose musical talent earned her a band scholarship to Morgan State University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Psychology in 2002. She later earned a Master of Arts in Adult Education from Central Michigan University and a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from Argosy University.
Dr. Crayton devoted her life to education, serving students across multiple levels. She taught in Baltimore County (MD), Palm Beach County (FL), Clayton County (GA), and DeKalb County (GA) Public School Systems. She also served as an adjunct instructor at Ashford University, Concordia University, Baltimore City College, and Palm Beach State College, and most recently mentored doctoral students as a dissertation committee member at Grand Canyon University.
Outside of her professional life, Dr. Crayton enjoyed cheering for the Baltimore Ravens, serving in her beloved Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, creating new recipes, and spending time with family and friends. She will be remembered for her radiant smile, infectious laugh, and kind spirit.
Dr. Crayton is survived by her brother Craig (Kristal) Brown; nieces Kayce and Christina Brown; stepfather Jimmy Barnett; stepsisters Monica and Mia Barnett; aunt Mary Jane Wingfield; uncles Eric (Anita) Linthicum and Jimmy (Susie) Crayton, II.; and cousins Ameer Linthicum, Phillip Crayton, Eric Crayton, and Jimmy Crayton, III. She is also lovingly remembered by a host of extended family members, friends, colleagues, and students who will continue to celebrate her life and lasting legacy.

I miss you so much. Our talks, laughs, and food dates. You were such a great friend and person all around. I am so blessed that I was able to spend a few years with you coaching the Diamonds. We made such an amazing team. Until we meet again. Baby Drew would have loved to meet her auntie. Continue resting.
