Misty Ann (Dimmitt) Gleason, age 45, of Sibley, IA passed away on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 30, 2025 at Stone State Park in Sioux City, IA from 10:00am to 2:00pm.
Misty Ann Gleason was born October 18, 1979 in Omaha, Nebraska to Robert Dimmitt and Cindy (Adkins) Curtis. She grew up in Council Bluffs, IA where she loved to draw, sing, and play with her brothers and neighborhood friends.
Misty attended a modeling school in Omaha, walking runways and posing for photos. She was quickly recognized for her beauty that matched the liveliness of her soul. Misty later attended North High School (Sioux City, IA) and graduated in the class of 1998. She had a deep love for animals, and attended Des Moines Area Community College majoring as a veterinary technician. She later left to pursue other interests, but the knowledge she accumulated from her time there allowed her to care for many animals over the years.
Misty met and fell in love with Chris Gleason in the year 2000. They remained by each other's side for the rest of her life. Their devotion for one another became an inspiration for the four children they would have, Tristan, Morgan, Ashton, and Christian Jr.
Anyone who knew Misty knew that her biggest joy in life was her family. Her immense loyalty and love for them later extended to her children’s closest lifelong friends and significant others. Where she mothered and adored them just as fiercely as her own.
Misty had a great love for gardening, where she grew a variety of plants. From crisp vegetables that her family would enjoy, to vivid flowers of all beautiful sorts. Showing that her capacity to nurture life stretched out in many different forms.
Misty was incredibly genuine, smiling at anyone she greeted from her assistant management position at Casey’s in Sibley, IA. She also loved music. She enjoyed singing with her lovely voice, dancing around the kitchen while cooking for her family and listening to her favorite songs. She was the embodiment of life being lived to the fullest.
Misty is survived by her husband Chris Gleason; children Tristan Gleason, Morgan Gleason, Ashton Gleason, and Christian Gleason Jr; parents Cindy Curtis and Robert Dimmitt; brothers Roy Dimmitt (Kassondra) and Levi Dimmitt; grandfather Gary Belt, grandmother Virginia Graham; many nephews and nieces; and many other loving family members such as her uncles, aunts, cousins, and loving friends.
Misty was preceded in death by her grandmother Caroline Belt, and grandfather Reuben Adkins.
