Mitar Mandic Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Washburn-McReavy Funeral Chapels - Eden Prairie on Aug. 22, 2022.
Mitar Mandic, 71, Hopkins, MN. Passed away on the 18th of August 2022, from a disease that took us all by surprise Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. He was born in Pakrac, Croatia on October 15th 1950 to parents Saveta and Mirko Mandic. He grew up in a family with three sisters Milka, Ranka and Draga and a brother Milan. In the small town of Lipik, Mitar started working in "Studenac" and in 1980 he decided to start a family with Joka and from that marriage he is getting a son Miroslav. Life was good for the Mandic family until the war started in Croatia. He moved several times with his family, fearing for his life, until in 1998 they applied for an American refugee visa through the United Nation Refugee Agency program and succeeded. Mitar comes to Minnetonka, MN to the family of Djurdjija and Nedeljko Spasojevic, who accepted him and offered to help him find his way. Life in America was not easy, especially in the beginning, because of language barriers. He starts doing various jobs, but retires from Cityscape Apartments, where he worked as Building Maintenance. He retired from there in 2015. He liked to spend his free time with his son Miki and daughter-in-law Jelena. Mitar was the proud grandfather of the grandsons Novak 8 and Nikola 6. He loved them very much and he enjoyed spending time with them. He also liked watching sports and western movies. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
Neka mu je laka crna zemlja !
