Mitchell S. Charles, 92, of Union Township passed away the morning of February 23, 2026 at his residence.

Born in New Castle on May 12, 1933, Mitchell was the son of the late Samuel and Pheobe Mansour Charles.

Mitchell is survived by his beloved wife, the former Shirley Jane Ketih. The two were married on December 4, 1959.

Mitchell had worked as a Yardmaster for Mahoning Valley Railroad at LTV Steel. He had proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army.

Mitchell was an avid reader and enjoyed working on his computer. He loved the outdoors, swimming and going golfing. Mitchell was a real handyman and could do just about anything and was willing to help anyone that would ask. He was known for his delicious Syrian bread and pizza. A loving husband, father and uncle, Mitchell's greatest joy was the time he spent with his family who meant everything to him. He will be lovingly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, Mitchell is survived by his two children, Mitchell Charles, Jr. and Kellie Charles and his two sisters, Yvonne Joseph and Elaine Mansour.

In addition to his parents, Mitchell was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Charles and his sisters, Adele Hopper, Sally Charles and Edna Jimm.

Honoring his wishes services are private. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed & Don DeCarbo Funeral Home & Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Entombment will be in Parkside Cemetery.

The family wishes to extend their deepest thanks to Three River Hospice for providing such loving, caring caregivers and nurses and for their compassion and love shown to Mitchell and his family.
