Obituary
Mitchell Thomas Daharsh, 26, lost his life to mental illness on June 21, 2023. Born on March 3, 1997, to Tom and Cathy (LaBouve) Daharsh, Mitchell lived a life full of love, adventure and curiosity with his family and friends. He lived in Wisconsin, Iowa and Illinois. His great love and care for others started at a very young age. He always saw the positive in others. He was instantly a favorite friend, student, and teammate. His smile and the sparkle in his eye filled a room with joy and hope. He found peace and happiness in the outdoors. Family camping trips, going to the cabin, and deer hunting were special memories for him. In middle school and high school, he was an athlete, a musician, and a leader. Being a part of a team was important to him, and he carried that into life. He loved gathering his friends together. He was someone friends could lean on and lend a listening ear.
Mitchell graduated with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the University of Platteville. He worked at Clark Dietz in Milwaukee, the City of West Allis, and at Powervolt in Illinois.
Mitchell will be remembered for having the biggest heart, showing compassion and kindness to everyone he met. His creative, smart, and funny personality showed through when he hung out with friends and family, when cooking for others, playing sports, throwing theme parties, and playing video games. We lean into our faith and trust that Mitchell is no longer in pain and darkness. He was a shining star in the world, and we will carry his story with us for the rest of our lives. We thank God for the gift of Mitchell and the many people he touched in his too short of a lifetime.
Mitchell is survived by his mom and dad, Tom and Cathy (LaBouve) Daharsh. His brother, Aaron Daharsh. His grandparents, Jeanne (Altmeyer) Daharsh, and Tom and Marlene (Lorier) LaBouve, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Mitchell is preceded in death by his uncles, Rich LaBouve and Tony Daharsh; and his grandfather, Ron Daharsh.
A funeral will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 5:00 pm at Bethany Lutheran Church, 76 W. Crystal Lake Avenue, Crystal Lake, Illinois. Visitation 2:00 pm - 5 pm. Meal to follow service. Bishop Stacie Fidlar will officiate and Rev. Rafael Padilla Malpica will assist.
Gifts in memory of Mitchell can be made to Bethany Lutheran Church or NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness).
