Mitchell W. Gomillion May 4, 1962 - October 2, 2025 Mitchell Wayne (Mitch) Gomillion, 63, originally from Amarillo, Texas, passed away peacefully and entered Heaven on October 2, 2025 at Baptist Hospital ICU,
Carthage, MS in the arms of wife, Teresa (Reese) Cobb Gomillion. Mitch resided in the Williston community in Leake County, MS with his wife, Reese, and their two dogs, Spur and River. He attended the Anchor Assembly of God Church in
Carthage, MS. Mitch was an avid hunter and loved fishing, as well as deer and turkey hunting. He was also a huge MSU Bulldog fan, and of course, the Texas Longhorns! Mitch was a former ranch hand for Marshall Durbin, Kilpatrick and Grimes Farms before becoming a dedicated truck driver for the past 45 years. He was employed by Tyson Foods. After being diagnosed with esophageal cancer, his toughest job was fighting this cancer, although he never gave up the fight to the very end! Mitch fought with unwavering courage and grace. Mitch was preceded in death by his parents, Martelle and David Whitfield and Perry Marzene and Robbie Gomillion; grandparents, Elmira Williams, Mavis and Jim Gomillion; sisters, Vanessa Byars, Jocelyn Sands, and Millicent Tomlinson. He is survived by his wife who was also his childhood best friend, Reese Gomillion,
Carthage, MS; daughter, Alison Gomillion, Heritage, TN ; son, Marty Shannon (Gigi) Gomillion, Decatur, MS; granddaughter, Gracie Vowell,
Carthage, MS; brothers – Tony (Sissy) Gomillion, Brandon, MS, Donnie (Shannon) Gomillion, Crystal Springs, MS, Shandy Byars, Clinton, MS and John Patrick Whitfield, Longview, TX; sisters – Dede Thomson, Longview, TX, and Nancy Middleton, Owensboro, KY; bonus Mom, Ruth Whitfield, Longview, TX along with a host of nieces, nephews, along with even great and great-great nieces and nephews and numerous cousins and extended family. Reverend Ronnie Gomillion with be in charge of his service, along with Shandy Byars who will also speak. Ushers are his nephews Brody Perkins, Jewett Perkins, Gregg Perkins and Jonathan Tutor; urn bearers are Glenn Kemp and Clayton Stewart. Funeral attendant is Leann Stewart. A memorial service celebrating Mitch's life will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025, with a wake at 10 am, service at 11 am at Wilcox Funeral Home, 106 South Jordan Street,
Carthage, MS, and a graveside service immediately following at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, 1471 McBeath Road,
Carthage, MS. Repast will be held in the Church's Fellowship Hall. Mitch's family invites all who knew and loved him to join in honoring his memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions can be made in Mitch's memory to
