Max Brannon & Sons Funeral Home - CalhounMitchell Lynn Hurst, 74, of Calhoun, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2026. He was born in Newport, Tennessee, on June 30, 1951, to the late Harold and Elizabeth Hurst.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Alice Hurst; son, Chad Hurst; daughter, Kristen Hurst Garland; brother, Terry (Renee) Hurst; sister, Marcia (David) Hill; grandchildren, Gage and Karma Garland, special friend, Lamar “Bodie” Ray and several nieces and nephews.
Mitchell loved bird hunting, horses, being outdoors as well as being involved with The National Shoot to Retrieve Association (NSTRA). Mitchell was a captain of his high school football team and played defense for Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina and later attended the University of Tennessee. He loved spending time with his family and friends was an avid fan of the Tennessee Volunteers.
On Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM the family will receive friends at Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.Funeral services will be held afterwards, at 3:00 PM from the chapel of Max Brannon and Sons Funeral Home.Rev. Kenny Jenkins and Rev. Ronnie Wells will be officiating. Pallbearers serving are Chad Hurst, Allen Garland, and Bodie Ray.
The Brannon family and staff are honored to serve the family of Mitchell Lynn Hurst.
