Dan Carroll Hawk

1955 - 2026

Dan Carroll Hawk, 70, of Farragut, Tenn., formerly of Andrews, N.C., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Andrews on Nov. 6, 1955, to Dan Hawk Sr. and Rosalind Stalcup Hawk. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dan was defined by his sense of humor, infectious laugh, generosity and love of family. He was a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and the fun uncle. He loved spending time with immediate and extended family, seeing new places, and driving the back country roads of everywhere he went.
Dan served in the Air Force in Omaha, Neb., and Germany, after which he went to the University of Tennessee where he earned BA and MS degrees.
He worked for the State of Tennessee for 27 years as a Community Planner, director of the Local Planning Assistance Office, and director of Rural Development.
Dan leaves behind his wife, Ruth, of 38 years; children, Dan III (Sarah), Kristin (Julie), Josh (Misty); stepchildren, Georgie Kerber (Sophia) and Alex Kerber (Mike Davis); sister, Carole Maennle (Steve); ex-wife, Muffy Kerber (George); cherished grandchildren, Lucas Moses-Borne, Hudson Hawk, Bennett Hawk, Coralee Hawk, Benjamin Davis, Julian Kerber, Evie Davis and Riley Kerber; niece, Beth Maennle; and nephew, Mark Maennle (Ashley and children, Gwyneth and Greyson).
Dan will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitation and a Celebration of Life service will be held from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, March 7, at Bridgewater Place, 205 Bridgewater Road in Knoxville.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 6, at Valleytown Cemetery, Andrews.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like gifts to be made to CARE or the Bryson City United Methodist Church.
Ivie Funeral Home, Andrews, is in charge of local arrangements.
