Funeral Mass for Mitchell “Pete” Jeansonne of Mansura will take place at the St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church of Mansura on Thursday, March 19th, 2026 beginning at 11:30am with Fr. Blake Deshautelle officiating. Burial will take place at the St. Joseph Cemetery 2 in Marksville.
Pete Jeansonne, age 90, passed away at his home in Mansura on Saturday, March 14th, 2026.
To those who knew him, Pete was more than a friend or father; he was a man who lived his life to a beautiful rhythm. An extraordinary saxophone player, music was the heartbeat of his world. Whether he was playing a soulful melody or a lively tune, his talent on the sax brought joy to many and served as his favorite way to connect with the people and the community he loved. He leaves behind a vast and loving legacy. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Debra Gauthier (Rickey), Billy Jeansonne, Madonna Jeansonne, Bruce Jeansonne (Robin), Winona Blanchard, Katrina Schmidt (David), and Tonia Jeansonne; sisters, Shirley Juneau (Carl) and Marie Jeansonne. He is also survived by his 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Silver & Mable Keller Jeansonne; his granddaughter, Krysti Beauclaire; brothers, Riley Jeansonne, Edward Jeansonne, Harold Jeansonne, Otis Jeansonne, and Earl Jeansonne; and the mothers of his children, Shirley Chenevert Whiddon and Sadie Briggs Jeansonne.
Visitation will begin at 5:00pm on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026 at the Escude Funeral Home of Mansura until 8:30 that evening. Visitation will resume the next day at 8:00am. Those honored to serve as his pallbearers are: Billy Jeansonne, Bruce Jeansonne, Bryce Moseley, Shawn Moseley, Earlray Haag, and Paul Lemoine.
