It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Mitchell Wesley Davis, who went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025, at the age of 82.
Born in Surry County to Wesley and Lillie Atkins Davis on May 28th, 1943. Mitchell grew up on their family farm, where he enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Mitchell dedicated his life to public service, working for the Surry County Sheriff’s office from 1966 to 1974. He went to work for the Yadkin County Sherriff’s Office in 1974-1987, where he met his loving wife, Kay. Mitchell then worked in the N.C. Magistrate’s Office of Yadkin County from 1987 until his retirement in 2010.
He was a proud Charter Member of Maplewood Baptist Church and an active member of Yadkin Masonic Lodge 162 AF & AM, Winston-Salem Scottish Rites of Free Masonry, Oasis Shrine Club, and the Elkin-Jonesville Shrine club.
Mitchell was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He especially loved singing to his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; favorites included A Bushel and a Peck, Cold Feet, and Ooey Gooey. His joyful presence and warm voice created memories that will live on for generations.
One of his greatest pleasures was fishing with friends and family. He cherished trips to the ocean and spent countless peaceful hours fishing off the pier.
