Mitchell Eugene Owens, age 64, of Loganville, Georgia, passed away on December 24, 2025, at his residence.
He was born on February 17, 1961, and was the son of the late Clarence Eugene Owens and Mary Johnson Owens. He was married to Phomphav Tann Owens, and together they had one son, Andy Eugene Owens.
Mitch was a gifted musician who could play just about any instrument placed in front of him, whether it was the banjo, a 12-string guitar, or the trumpet. He enjoyed a wide range of music, from bluegrass to rock.
Above all, Mitch loved his family. He cherished spending time with them, whether traveling together or simply being at home. He also enjoyed good food and reading, and was known to read everything from Stephen King novels to the fine print of a legal contract. Mitch was a fun-loving, witty man with a sharp sense of humor who will be deeply missed.
In addition to his wife, Phomphav Tann Owens, he is survived by his son, Andy Eugene Owens; one sister, Cynthia Nichols and husband David; one brother, Mark Jonathan Owens and wife Laura; one aunt, Mavis Burrell and husband Coyl; two nephews; four nieces; and many cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, with Rev. Zane Talley officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Hunter Funeral Home is honored to serve the family of Mitch Owens.
