Mitchell E. “Pee Wee” Shaw, 89, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Born, July 11, 1933, in Richmond County, NC, he was a son of the late James Calvin and Annie Lee Shankle Shaw. Pee Wee was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church in Wallace, SC, where he was a Lay Leader and helped with the Church Cemetery. He worked for many years as a supervisor with JP Stevens in Wallace, SC. Pee Wee loved flying airplanes, riding bikes, and playing the guitar. He also enjoyed watching birds and fishing. He was a hardworking man that had to stay busy all the time, and most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and visiting people.
Along with his parents, listed above, he was preceded in death by a son, Mitchell Terry Shaw; a daughter, Deborah Kay Shaw; brothers, James Shaw, Phillip Shaw, Boyce Shaw, Robert Shaw, and Lewis Shaw; and sisters, Ethel Rainwater, Annie Bell English, Lillian Hayer, and Arrietta Wilkes.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 46 years, Saundra Shaw of the home; a son, Joshua “JJ” Brigman of Apex, NC; daughters, Karen Diehl (Andreas) of Germany, and Stacie L. Shaw of Wallace, SC; grandchildren, Kimberly Hinson, Shaw Wallace, Jamie Maynard, Morgan Krauss, Joshua Brigman, Jr., and Adrienne Braswell; twelve great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; a child of the heart, Willie “Junior” Shaw; a nephew, Jerry Wayne Shaw; a niece, Diane Hayer Wayne; and many other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at New Hope United Methodist Church in Wallace, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 3, 2023 at Kiser Funeral Home in Cheraw, SC and other times at the home of his daughter, Stacie, 2225 Grants Mill Road, Wallace, SC 29596.
Memorials may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, PO BOX 96, Wallace, SC 29596.
Kiser Funeral Home has been entrusted to serve the Shaw family in their time of grief.
