Mitchell Smith Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Farone & Son Inc. Funeral Home - Liverpool on Feb. 6, 2026.
Mitchell M. Smith, 50, of Syracuse, passed away on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.

Mitchell was born in Saranac Lake, NY, raised in Keene, and moved to Syracuse after college, where he lived for the past 27 years. He attended SUNY Canton, where he was a proud member of the Zeta Alpha Phi Fraternity. Mitchell was employed by Cavalier Transportation for 27 years and was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Mitchell was actively involved in the softball community, serving as a softball umpire with USSSA for many years, a role he truly enjoyed. He often spoke fondly of his high school years, especially the time he spent playing sports.

Mitchell had a creative and imaginative spirit. He loved collecting G.I. Joe figures, writing poetry, and authored a book that reflected his vivid imagination. He was a blogger for Serpentors Lair and enjoyed sharing his interests with others. One of his greatest joys was watching the Star Wars trilogy with his son. He also cherished watching his daughter, Rylee, play the piano and spending time singing songs together.

He was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Ada Smith; his mother-in-law, Rita Titone; and his sister-in-law, Jennifer Williams.

Mitchell is survived by his beloved wife, Christine Titone Smith; his children, Rylee and Braydon; his siblings, Matt, Mark (Lisa), Melvin, Mary, Michelle, and Michael; his father-in-law, Frank Titone; his sister-in-law, Carrie (Matthew) Lantzy; his brother-in-law, Frank Titone, Jr.; his chosen child, Eva Carrete; his beloved dog, Gunner; and many nieces and nephews.
