Mitzi Cowling Lafitte was born August 2, 1950 in Mansfield, Louisiana. She passed away peacefully January 7, 2025 in Shreveport, Louisiana at the age of 74.
Mitzi had a great, never-ending love for God, family and friends. Known for her boundless kindness, infectious laughter and unwavering support, she touched the lives of all who knew her. She had an impact on each person she interacted with. Her dedication to her family, her passion for fishing, camping, and gardening and her genuine spirit will forever be cherished. Mitzi’s greatest joys and accomplishments were the love of her husband, being a Mom to Robin and Darrell and being big sister to Cissy and Bobby.
Mitzi was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Earl Cowling and Betty Jean Rambin Cowling Cunningham; grandmothers, Fanny Cowling, and Bertha Lee Hesser Hughes, and brother, Justin Cunningham.
Left to cherish her memory are the love of her life of 54 years, Francis “Footsie” Lafitte; sons, Robin and Darrell; sister, Cecelia “Cissy” Hesser and husband, Paul “Buddy”; brother, Robert Earl Cowling, Jr. “Bobby” and wife, Ginger; grandson, Tyler Gage and wife Hannah; great-grandchildren, Conor Parker, Rorin Gage, and Mariana Gage; best friends, Lisa Eddy, and Melesa Hesser; along with numerous relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held Friday, January 17, 2025 at Rose-Neath Funeral Home, 943 Polk Street, Mansfield, Louisiana, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. with Rosary at 6:00pm. A funeral Mass Celebrating Mitzi’s life will be held Saturday, January 18, 2025 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rambin, Louisiana. Reception will immediately follow in church hall.
