Molly Shoulberg Obituary

Shoulberg Molly (nee Mary Lou Wagner) June 30, 1940 - February 11, 2026 Peacefully passed away at home on February 11, 2026, tended to by her aide Carline Pierre and daughter Rebecca, while holding the hand of her devoted husband, Richard. Molly was born June 30, 1940, in Norristown, Pennsylvania, to the late Cyrus L. Wagner and Mary Krell Wagner Ruane. Molly graduated from A.D. Eisenhower High School, 1958, and attended Ursinus College. Molly and Richard had their first date January 5th, 1955. During the evening, he declared that he would marry her. She remarked that he was weird and his chances of a second date were diminished. Somehow, he impressed her and their relationship was set in stone when they were married on December 22, 1958. Together they raised four "perfect children," her favorite saying, at their longtime family home in East Norriton Township. They celebrated their 67th anniversary recently at a dinner party hosted by their daughters and commemorated by close friends and family. Those who knew Molly always remarked upon her creativity, intellect, and steadfast nature. As the demands of Richard's career kept him away for long hours and weeks at a time, she supported his efforts and managed the needs of the family while pursuing several crafts. She was an expert seamstress, who used her talents to dress her children impeccably and to assist her friends with tailoring and household projects. Recognition for her skills led to a longtime part-time career providing sewing lessons and joining the sales force at Sears Roebuck, Inc. Her self-designed gardens are a place of wonder and will endure as a haven of comfort. Additionally, she devoured books. Her favorite genres were mysteries and pieces of nonfiction she used to complement trip planning. Besides spending time at home with her family, Molly enjoyed traveling the world. She joined Richard at several World Championships, Olympic Games, and hundreds of swimming related conventions or competitions. She was fascinated by the culture and artistry of many places including Spain, Australia, and Thailand. Her vast art collection is a token to the places which left her bespoke with wonder. A cherished spot was the home of her friends, Jack and Suzy Toll, in Tuscany, Italy. There is no doubt that her most endearing trips included a flight above the Western landscape in her son Steven's glider or the cherished visits to her son Rick's cattle ranch in Colorado. Molly is survived by her everlasting husband, Richard, and her four perfect children; Steven, Richard, Rebecca (Rajmund Krzyzewski), and Roberta. Additional family members are Bozena K. Leonarski, brother and sister-in-laws Wilmer D. Cressman, Gini Shoulberg, Daniel and Sheila Shoulberg, Judith S. Totaro, and Catherine Shoulberg, RSM, along with dozens of nieces, nephews, and their children. She was preceded in death by her daughter Allison, a sister Barbara A. Cressman, and her brother-in-law Donald Shoulberg. The family of Molly would like to extend the most heartfelt appreciation to Carline Pierre and the administration of A Long Term Companion, Jenkintown, Pennsylvania, for the attentiveness and compassion they provided for Molly. Their dedication to comfort ensured that Molly lived her final days exactly as she desired. The family will conduct a private Memorial Service. A Celebration of Molly's Life and a time to gather to reminisce will be offered to all family and friends on Saturday, March 7, 2026, from the hours of 1 P.M. to 5 P.M. in the afternoon at Presidential Caterers, 2910 DeKalb Pike, East Norriton, PA. Kindly RSVP by Monday, March 2, 2026 via email, [email protected]. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Molly's name to the Norristown branch of the Montgomery County Public Library, a place where she made countless trips with her children. She provided them with the gift of curiosity and literacy, and fully encouraged them to read anything which sparked their fancy. It was her desire that others have the same opportunity as she was afforded. Donations may be submitted via mail: MCNPL Director of Development, 1700 Markley St., Ste 16, Norristown, PA 19401 or online at mcnpl.org. Molly was right! She raised four perfect children and Dick is still kind of weird. Just kidding about Dick!
I will always remember Molly for the sparkle in her eyes and her genuine love of life. She was a joy to be around. I enjoyed her intellect and keen wit. While many of the swimmers were afraid of Dick, Molly was spunky and adept at sparring playfully with Dick. It was fun to watch because she said things I would dare not say to Dick.
I feel like Molly was my mom too. She graciously welcomed all of Dick´s swimmers into her home and frequently fed us. As an adult, she often offered me delicious sandwiches from Jake´s. I will miss Molly´s energy, cheerful disposition and welcoming presence. And I will miss the love that Dick and Molly had for one another. When I entered their home, I always felt that "all was right. In the world". I could feel the love!
