Mona Mariah Purdy, 76, of Stonefort, IL passed away at 4:10 pm on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at Carbondale Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, IL.

Services will be announced at a later date. Felty Funeral Home of Carrier Mills, IL is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mona was born on March 4, 1949 in Stonefort, IL to the late Harry Levi and Charlene (Cummins) Joyner.

She married Stephen Purdy on May 4, 1991and he survives.

After attending Rhema Bible College Mona worked as an Administration Assistant in the Engineering and Construction field for many years. She loved to go shopping and listening to 60’s music. She also enjoyed traveling, listening to television preaching and in person, she loved spending time with her grandchildren, and of course her dogs whom she affectionately called the kids, Kooki and Jasper. She loved reading her bible.  She also attended Little Chapel Church in Harrisburg, IL. Her love for the Lord showed in her everyday life with passion for sharing the word and bring others to know our Lord.

She is survived by her husband: Stephen Purdy of Stonefort, IL; Son: Michael Detomasi of Belleville, IL; 2 Grandchildren: Makayla Detomasi of Marion, IL and Angelina Detomasi of Stonefort, IL; 2 Brothers Jerry (Terri) Joyner of Stonefort, IL and Lee Joyner of Carrier Mills, IL; 2 Sisters: Toni Lamb of Maryville, IL and Ursula Martin of Stonefort, IL; and 3 Sisters-in-law: Beth Cummins of Elko, NV, Ann Joyner and Phyllis Joyner both of Stonefort, IL.

Mona was preceded in death by her parents: Harrey and Charlene Joyner; 3 Brothers: Steve Cummins, Joshua Joyner and Charles Joyner; and 2 Brothers-in-law: Bill Lamb and Bill Martin.
