Kay Bonner Thompson, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on August 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Kay was born on September 5, 1951, in Robertsdale, Alabama, to Stancel and Vera Bonner. She graduated from Robertsdale High School and went on to have a successful career as an insurance agent with Horace Mann. Throughout her life, she was known for her exceptional work ethic, dedication, and the warmth she brought to every room.
She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Richard Thompson, son, Eric Peterson, and granddaughters, Lila Grace Peterson and Sirena Kay Peterson, who brought her so much joy.
She is also survived by her sisters Shirley Wallace and Carol (Dan) Baird.
Kay will be remembered for her kindness, her ability to make everyone feel welcome, and her infectious smile that could light up any room. Her legacy of love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Faith Chapel, 100 Beverly Parkway, Pensacola, FL, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. She will be laid to rest at Bethel Baptist Church, 22250 US Highway 90, Robertsdale, Alabama following a viewing and service from 12:30pm to 1:30pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Kay by honoring her spirit of kindness and generosity.
She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
